Bio

I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in the Physics Department at the University of Louisville. I plan to graduate in the Spring of 2019.  I will then be moving on to earn my Ph.D in Astrophysics.  I began my academic career in Political Science, and after a break from academia I decided to go back to school to work on a degree in Physics.  My shift in disciplines was not such a shock, as I had always had a love of (and affinity for) physics and astronomy.

My main areas of interest in Astrophysics are the study of Dark Matter, the origins of the universe, and exo-planets.   My academic interests extend into high energy particle physics as well.  When I am not studying the stars, doing homework, or doing research; I enjoy watching science fiction shows and movies, documentaries, and reading anything I can get my hands on.

One of my biggest drives in my studies is helping other women in STEM fields (specifically Physics)  feel comfortable and welcomed into the field.  I helped restart the Society of Women in Physics & Astronomy (SWiPA) at the University of Louisville and with some of the other women in the department we discuss the issues faced by women in STEM fields, do outreach with school age girls, and offer a safe and inviting environment for men and women to discuss the issues women face in the STEM fields.
